General FAQ

How do we get there?

We are located at Alaska Regional Hospital, Building A, 5thfloor, Suite 51

Where do we find prep instructions?

Please contact our office for instructions.

How long will my procedure take?

You will be here roughly 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours from start to finish.

What’s your ride policy?

You are required to have an escort (18 years of age or older) take you to and from your procedure. We ask that your escort stay on campus.  He/she will be given a 1015 minute warning before they need to come up and get you from our center. You CAN take an Uber, Lyft or Cab, however, your escort MUST ride with you after your procedure.

If you cannot bring an escort, click here.

What type of anesthesia will I receive?

please visit our FAQ anesthesia page

How quickly will I get results?

Results typically take 35 business days to come back from the pathologist. You will receive a letter in the mail with regards to your results and your doctor’s recommendations. IF it is urgent, you will receive a call from your doctor.

How soon after my procedure may I eat?

For EGDs, we use Lidocaine to numb your throat, so we ask that you wait to eat until after the numbness has gone away. For any other procedures, you may eat and drink after your procedure.

Where can my escort wait during my procedure?

We are still recommending that all escorts wait in their car while waiting for the patient’s procedure to be completed. If the patient and escort took an Uber, Lyft or Cab to the procedure, they are welcome to wait in the waiting room, however, please remain 6 feet apart and continue to wear your mask.

Do I need a Covid test prior to my procedure?

No, we are no longer requiring our patients to be tested. However, if you (or someone you’ve been close to) has been sick in any way, please call Internal Medicine Associates to reschedule at 9072762811. We are continuing to do Covid screenings to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.
